Job Title: Offshore Installation Manager (OIM)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The duties of an offshore installation manager may vary depending on the location, company, drilling team size, and vessel type and size. The general ones include the following:
  • Ensuring the safety and security of personnel and equipment on the rig
  • Managing the operation and maintenance of the platform's systems and equipment
  • Coordinating and supervising the work of the rig’s personnel
  • Managing the rig’s budget and ensuring that the platform remains cost-effective and efficient
  • Managing the rig’s environmental impact and complying with all relevant regulations
  • Maintaining and updating the facility’s emergency response plans and procedures
  • Overseeing the loading and unloading of supplies and equipment onto the facility
  • Communicating with stakeholders, such as the company's management, regulatory agencies, and contractors
  • Making decisions related to the operation and maintenance of the rig, such as determining repairs or maintenance schedules.
  • Ensures good housekeeping and hygiene standards at the offshore facility
  • Reviews work/site procedures, planned work activities, and schedules to ensure the safe execution of activities and minimize production interruption
  • Participates in the development of the Platform Operations Procedures Manual
  • Participates in the development of the facility’s ramp-up and startup procedure
  • Manage the platform's day-to-day operations, such as staff scheduling, coordination, and mechanical upkeep

Qualifications
  • Depending on the location and vessel type, you’ll need the following licenses and certifications to become an offshore installation manager.
  • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training Certificate (BOSIET)
  • Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) certificates
  • Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)
  • Necessary Medical certificates
  • OIM License as per Flag State
  • Master License
  • Valid Ship Security Officer Certificate
  • All STCW required training for Master / OIM on the class of vessel and Flag requirements.
  • Management of Major Emergencies

  • Lifeboat Coxswain
  • Banksman/Slinger

  • Must have at least 15 years of working experience in the oil & gas industry, 10 of which as a Platform Superintendent or OIM.
