Job Overview
The Control Superintendent will oversee and manage all control systems, instrumentation, and automation activities for a long-term ADNOC project in the UAE. The role ensures the integrity, reliability, and optimal performance of control systems (DCS, ESD, SCADA, PLCs, etc.) while adhering to ADNOC standards, HSE policies, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Control Systems Management
- Supervise the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD, F&G, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with ADNOC, international standards (IEC, ISA, API), and project requirements.
- Review and approve control system designs, modifications, and upgrades.
- Lead control system activities in alignment with project schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
- Manage contractors and vendors to ensure timely and quality deliverables.
- Provide technical expertise in control system engineering, including loop tuning, SIL assessment, and cybersecurity.
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with ADNOC VAP (Value Assurance Process) and HSE standards.
- Ensure proper documentation (loop diagrams, P&IDs, cause-and-effect matrices) is maintained.
- Develop and implement preventive/predictive maintenance strategies for control systems.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for control system failures and implement corrective actions.
- Optimize control strategies to enhance process efficiency and uptime.
- Ensure all control system activities comply with HSE regulations and best practices.
- Participate in HAZOP, SIL, and other safety reviews.
- Promote a culture of safety and operational excellence.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Electronics, or related engineering field.
- Experience: Minimum 10+ years in control systems, with at least 8 years in a supervisory role within oil & gas.
- Expertise in DCS/PLC/SCADA systems (Yokogawa, Honeywell, Siemens, Emerson).
- Knowledge of field instrumentation, analyzers, and control valves.
- Familiarity with SAP (PM/MM modules) and CMMS.
- Certifications: Functional Safety Certification (TÜV, CFSE/CFSP), ADNOC approval (preferred).
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
