Job Overview
The Control Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing control systems, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of process automation, instrumentation, and control systems within the ADNOC project. The role involves troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of control strategies to enhance operational performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Control Systems Management
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement control strategies to improve process efficiency, safety, and reliability.
2. Troubleshooting & Technical Support
  • Diagnose and resolve control system malfunctions in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams.
  • Provide technical support for process control, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for control-related incidents and implement corrective actions.
3. Project & Commissioning Support
  • Participate in the design, testing, and commissioning of new control systems.
  • Review P&IDs, control narratives, and logic diagrams to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Support Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments.
4. Maintenance & Reliability
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for control systems.
  • Ensure proper calibration and functionality of field instruments (sensors, transmitters, control valves, etc.).
  • Collaborate with reliability teams to enhance system uptime and performance.
5. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of control system configurations, modifications, and updates.
  • Prepare technical reports, work procedures, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to ADNOC’s digital transformation and cybersecurity policies.
6. Training & Compliance
  • Train operations and maintenance personnel on control system functionalities.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC, ISO, IEC, and OSHA standards.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in control systems within oil & gas, petrochemical, or refinery operations, preferably with ADNOC or similar large-scale projects.
Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in DCS (Yokogawa, Honeywell, Emerson), PLC, SCADA, and SIS.
  • Knowledge of field instrumentation, loop tuning, and process optimization.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus).
Certifications:
  • TÜV Functional Safety Certification (preferred).
  • ISA or equivalent control system certifications (advantageous).
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
